This is sample footage from the Panasonic PV-GS300, one of the lowest priced/highest quality camcorders on the market. The Panasonic PV-GS300 has a 3CCD sensor which greatly improves your video quality. I just ordered a Panasonic PV-GS320 which is very similar for a little over $400 from BuyDig.com. As soon as I get it, I’ll put more footage up.
Hiya,
congrats on your first comment!
Thats some nice photography. Was it shot by yourself? Pretty relaxing music too
will be following this blog closely, see if I can pick up some production tips
Thank you and congrats on being the first commenter! Funny I’ve seen some of your videos before on YouTube… they are hilarious!
[...] This is sample video footage from a Sony HDR-HC5 High Definition Handycam Camcorder which has a list price of $1,099.99. This video was encoded with Sony Vegas 7 with best video rendering quality, 30 fps, 2mbps bit rate. I wonder… for sites like YouTube does it really matter if you use an HD camcorder? From this example the quality doesn’t seem to look that much better than this lower priced Panasonic PV-GS300. [...]
great site! I’m in the market for a video camera. I’m a big photography enthusiast and own quite a few digital cameras, but I’m new to video (with a baby on the way). I’ve been doing a ton of research on the video medium. Any way. Currently, I’m trying to decide between the Canon Elura 100 (which seems far superior to the more recent Canon ZR850) and the Panasonic PV-GS320. I see that you have video footage from the Elura 100 and you just purchased the PV-GS320. Which do you like better and why? I’m not so finicky about interface design on the camera. My main concern is a getting the best video quality on a $400-$500 budget. Thanks for your thoughts.
erik,
I haven’t tried the Elura 100, but will say I LOVE the PV-GS320…I’m very happy with it. If you consider the GS320, you might want to also consider the GS300… they are basically the same except the 300 has an additional input in case you want to use an external mic
all i can say is wow that footage is really beautiful are u suuuure u took it with the panasonic PV GS300 lol it looks like it was taking with a really expensive camera. its really beautiful but question if the GS300 is so good how come you went and buy a GS320 i myself want to buy a camcorder but not sure which to get but i did want an external mic jus for better audio because im not sure how good the built in audio is. any help would be appreciated
